The Dawn of My K-Addiction

Where do I begin? It’s been ages since I wrote anything…ok…First of all I love watching movies and tv series, especially action, fantasy and horror. There comes a time when the binge-watcher gets very thirsty and has no water to drink and they get desperate: sometime in January of this year (2018) one night I wanted some good horror and since Asian Horror shows are good I found myself watching Black (Hangul: 블랙). I didn’t realise it was a series until the first episode ended. It was corny, funny, weird and most of all, refreshing. It was more of a romance-fantasy and who doesn’t love a good romance, especially when the lead actors are good-looking. I binged it off and I wanted more.

The Bride of Habaek (Hangul: 하백의 신부) was my next Korean drama series, then Black Knight: The Man Who Guards Me (Hangul: 흑기사), Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo (Hangul: 역도요정 김복주), Strong Girl Bong-soon (Hangul: 힘쎈여자 도봉순), and more. Yes in less than two months I devoured these shows and more. These dramas have anywhere from 16 to 20 episodes.

I always used to tease my bestie for watching these ridiculous shows. Now look at me. Yup, I called her and apologised…twice. I now understand why she likes watching South Korean Drama.

What makes them so good? The male and female leads are always so well-developed and strong (annoying sometimes), funny, charismatic (and full of them damn hot selves – bordering narcissism). Where there is romance, the focus is more on the feelings of each character, that first touch, holding hands, first kiss and no sex scenes, yes, none, which makes these shows so pure, it touches the heart, you might shed a tear and even cuss out some of the characters. Hahahaha. However, they do not go easy on the violence, creepiness and grossness. Hehehe. My kind of thing. Also, the amazing soundtracks and heavy product placement, all packed into 57 to 85 minutes. Yup each episode is like a short to full feature length film.

Well, right now I’m trying to find another series to watch after being completely destroyed after watching in two days Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo (Hangul: 달의 연인 – 보보경심 려). The original soundtrack songs are really good, my favourite is Forgetting You (그대를 잊는다는 건) by Davichi (다비치). This drama is very lovely, awesome visuals, amazing cast and a very powerful story…you’re gonna need a lot of tissue and therapy after watching it. Enjoy!

Oh… That Gap

Wow! it’s been a while, a long while since I wrote something here. So let’s get to it.

Now, I’m not talking about the gap between the teeth, rather, the age gap…when the woman is older than her lover/partner/baby daddy/whatever-you-want-to-call-it.

Yes folks it’s 2015 and we’re still hung up on this. If he’s 18 years or older I see no reason why an older woman can’t hit that. I’m just saying. The poor lady is called a “cradle-robber”, cougar or puma depending on the width of the age gap. Hahaha so silly. However, men are still men even when they date girls old enough to be their great granddaughters. Any who…

You know we women are more liberated than ever before so we’re not all negatively affected by the opinions of others. Some older women’s defense is ” ol’ man juice scratch” (sex with older men is not all that) – yes I am being mild with that translation – which leads me to think of some benefits of being an older woman with a boy toy:

  1. Erectile dysfunction is so far from anyone’s mind –wink wink-
  2. Rounds 2 and 3 are just a few minutes away.
  3. He keeps her feeling youthful.
  4. His fitness (if I were to go on with this point I would have to change the topic)

Well peeps, live and let love. The older woman and the younger man is just another couple of consenting adults.
